Dear Fourth Grade Families,

Congratulations to Gideon and Tessa for being selected as our Class Representatives for Student Council!  These two hard working and responsible students will make fine officers!

This upcoming Wednesday, October 31st is our Halloween parade.  The Halloween parade will take place at 8:50am on the blacktop and around the turf.  The fourth graders can wear their costumes to school and change after the parade.  Please remember to keep the school costumes on the friendlier side and that accessories like toy weapons are not allowed at school. We will enjoy snacks and fun Halloween activities from 9:15-10:00. Thank you to our Room Parents, Michelle McCarthy and Nancy Bloch, for setting up a Sign-up Genius for the party and thank you to all the parents who contributed!

Parent-Teacher Conferences have been scheduled and I'm looking forward to meeting with all of you!  If you are unable to make it at your scheduled time, please let me know right away.  During the two weeks of conferences, November 5th through November 16th, students will be released at 1:55pm.

There is no school on Monday, November 12th in observance of Veterans’ Day.

Upcoming Events

Dear Room 30 Families,

Below are reminders of upcoming events.

Save the date!  The Mustang Stampede and Round-up is fast approaching! This fun, PTA-sponsored event is happening Sunday, October 14 from 12-3pm on the Edna blacktop.  Stay tuned for more details!

Thanks to Kiddo!, the fourth graders will be participating in California Weekly Explorers’ Walkthrough California program on Friday, October 19, from 9:00 until 11:30am, in the MPR here at Edna.  This presentation is designed to allow fourth grade students to actively participate in a lively retelling of California’s rich history.  Through the use of games, music, and storytelling, history comes alive for them!  You are welcome to join us!  Due to the length of the presentation, I do suggest finding alternate childcare for small children.  This is an interactive history lesson and not a school play, so younger audience members may become a distraction to the participants and presenter. For more information on this special program, you can visit California Weekly Explorers’ website at: http://californiaweekly.com. Look for your official invitation to the Walkthrough California program in your child’s Wednesday Folder next week.

This week, the Wednesday Folders include a family invite to your child's Seesaw account. Seesaw is a great way for your kids to share their classroom work with you. This might include Talking Calendar presentations, book creator projects, science experiments, etc.  Please follow the directions on the invitation and let me know if you have any questions.

In the fall of 5th grade your child will be participating in the outdoor education program at Walker Creek.  In a couple of weeks, on October 17, from 11:15am to 12:15pm, Walker Creek Ranch is holding its annual open house and tour for parents.  If you are interested in hearing more about this program and touring the facility, this would be a wonderful event to attend.  Here is a link to the Walker Creek website if you have any questions about the October 17th event or about this 5th grade program:  http://www.walkercreekranch.org.
